CM Launch Software Question

This question has probably been brought up before on here but I need to ask it again. Are the C5's equipped with launch software to protect the drive train from hard acceleration from a dead stop? If so; can it be disabled ? Really annoying when I let the clutch out and put it to the floor and it has to travel about 20 feet before it really "launches" BTW, my C5 is a year 2000 with 6sp manual.

No launch control. But, there is Traction Control. And your car may have Active Handling as well. It will say so by the button on the center console.

The C5 also requires a bit of finesse to get a good launch. Check out: Launch Tips

HI there,

It is called 'torque management' and it is on all c5 and c6 Corvette.

Launch control is more of a feature to allow the car to maintain traction under hard acceleration and is on ZR1, 2009-present.

Allthebest, c4c5

Are you smoking the tires during this 20 feet? My 01 with the Active Handling off, launched above 1500rpms will spin immediatly.

OK, so it's called "torque management" I incorrectly refered to it as launch control. Basically it delays any aggressive throttle inputs until the driveline is properly loaded and then it allows brisk acceleration. In my opinion it neuters the car. It is a very annoying thing and I was just looking for a way to turn it off. I wondered if there was any tuning software available that would allow you to tap into the computer and disable it. My Vette is a 2000 and it doesn't have competitive mode. It just has traction control "on" and traction control "off". My gripe is when the traction control if "off" the so called "torque management" is still active. No fun GM........

My 01, with tc off but not in comp mode, if there's a delay I can't tell it. The only delay is getting it to hookup. Gives a nice view down the road out the side window.

It was my understanding that torque management did not affect C5s with a manual transmission. Is this not correct?

I can't see that it affects mine at all.

Yes, there are several programs that will allow you to modify the programming. I use EFILive, but there are others. However, the factory programming is there to protect your car. Eliminating torque management, firming shift pressures, speeding up shift times, etc., will stress your car much more. You will see damage and wear at an accelerated pace.
