Hi all, I attended Corvettes at Carlisle in August for the first time and loved it enough to begin prepping for next years event. I stayed at the Howard Johnsons and though it was okay I guess I would like something a little more upscale. I like a place with a decent lounge cause I wont drive once I imbibe, and possibly good eats nearby. I would welcome any suggestions or comments and I thank you all in advance

When I went to Gettysburg last year, I stayed at the Super 8 for a night. It was the nicest motel I had ever seen--almost a hotel.

I quit going when the rates went up to $150 a night.

Really? That high?

I think I paid $49 in late June at the Chambersburg Super 8 and $99 at the Gettysburg Best Western right in the heart of Gettysburg.

I wonder if booking way ahead helps?

Hey thanks for the replies all. I do believe booking early helps if you stay near the fairgrounds, but my research seems to indicate that staying about 25 miles away is cost effective as well. Also you get to enjoy some of the other ammenities in the area as well. Still looking though and if I find a good deal I will certainly pass it on, again thanks and lets keep the thread open in case someone else runs into a good deal. Thanks all
