I am new to the LS3 engine. My LS2 2007 convertible would average 28-10 MPG at 70 MPH. So far the best I have gotten from my 2011 GS convertible is about 25 MPG under the same conditions. The car only has 1500 miles. Does the MPG get better as the motor gets more mileage or is this what I can expect from the LS3?

It'll come up. That engine isn't broken in. Guys in my club report 30MPG+ at 80 MPH.

I was reminded by my club members that the GS probably has a different rear end ratio than my 2007 base car.

Ethanol in the fuel will have the same lower mpg results. Are both vehicles using the the same transmissions, and are they turning the same rpm's at 70 mph in top gear?

| Both have an A6. The LS2 ran 1500 RPM @ 70 MPH and the LS3 runs 1600 RPM @ 70. Not really much of a difference.

Ethanol has 60% of the energy of gasoline. 10% corn squeezins= -6% mileage. Just about the most inefficient fuel, next to hemp--and supported by the same types who skipped chemistry to get stoned...

Ethanol, as an idea for a clean earth, is right up there with hybrids and electric vehicles. We are constantly fighting driveability/mpg issues because of the quality/types of fuels. It's amazing these vehicles run as good as they do.

And well-proven turbo diesels and fleet CNG vehicles are largely ignored. The VW TDi gets the same mileage as the Mexican-made Ford Fusion Hybrid, but where's the press on that?? It's all wishful thinking promoted by people who were high in chemistry, physics, and math classes.
