Some of you may already know this, I found it yesteday myself! Exciting news from Mid America! Mid America has made those two shifter bushings that rott out on our shifters, due to heat, age, and of course shifting. The part number is 627-379 and you get four bushings for $19.99. A great price and you get two for spare! The bushings are for C5 and C6 stock GM shifters.

I can only speak for C5, as that's the experience I have, but for C6 its very similar. Basically just take the console out. Nuts inside the console come out, a screw or two in the ashtray area, and one screw under the climate control sensor grill. My car does not have elec climate control, but the grill is still there. You will have to remove the shift knob too and if its still the stock GM one, pop out the shifter pattern square and then you have to pull the pin holding the knob down, upward. It will require a lot of force to get out. I think that's it, but its been awhile since I removed mine... Once the console is off, you will see the two bolts that go through the bushings on the left side of the shifter assembly.

No transmission disassembly, only the shifter assembly box under the console area. Let us know if you need any help.
