CM Gm dexos oil replaces mobil 1

This is for all those using Mobil 1.

GM DEXOS 1 fluid lubrication specification replaces 4718M for usage in Corvette.

GM dexos information center

It is substantially less money and will NOT VOID ANY WARRANTY.

Look at the specification and who licenses it to make SURE it is good to use if you decide to use something else.

I read the link in your message...does the warranty exclusion apply to older vehicles still under warranty? For instance, my 2009 Z51 Coupe?

Thanks,

Kevin

Thanks,

The exclusion would apply to any vehicle under GM warranty that requires those oil specifications stated above.

If you use an oil that is either GM Dexos 1, or 4718M spec, then your warranty will be fine.

Who is blending the Dexos oil for GM? You can PM me if you want.

EDIT: I found out, so it's good.

I'm already using "dexos1." (and didn't even know it.) But, based on the oil I'm using, I'm certainly not surprised as the company I buy it from always "over engineers" all their crankcase oils. They do this to reduce costs in "re-developing" oils for new/future specs from API or whomever.

CM Mobil 1

I assume GM or Chevy dealers are the only ones selling Dexos oil. My only question is which is better? Cheaper is nice but I don't wish to skimp on quality. I'm sure if you stated "XYZ" brand is the "best" oil you could buy for your vette. Many forum readers would buy it tomorrow. Just as good is nice, but better is just that, better. That's me. If they made little test strips to check gasoline I'm sure guys would be checking before they gas up.

Many different oil brands currently meet the Dexos standard, Mobil 1 being one of they. This is not to make people have to buy oil from GM. This rolled all the varius GM standards into one. And because it's been done with a synthetic blend, it's less expensive. For customers and at factory fill.
