I clicked the link in c4c5's post on the Dexos oil recommendation, but all it said basically is "use it". I googled a while but could not zero in on any technical specs. Here is a link to the specs on the oil I use for an example, sorry could not cut/paste the content into the post. http://www.redlineoil.com/content/fi...uct%20Data.pdf Does anyone have these kind of specs for Dexos so as to be more informed before considering a switch? BTW zddp is about 1200 across the board for Redline Oil from a conversatioin I had with their technical support guy. Thanks in advance if anyone has the similar specs on Dexos, these are basically industry standard specs as I understand it. :) BTW last time I had wife's 07 BMW in for service I was talking to the service writer about oci (oil change interval) and for BMW it's now up to 15k before they will do one under the free service program. Used to be much less & you could get one annual regardless of miles, that is gone.

It is the new required oil for 2011 gm cars .It is supposed to be made for the extended oil change intervals of the new cars it is required for warranty purposes .I imagine mobil 1 or similar oil would be ok also Steve

I believe that I am starting to figure out GM's objective behind this "new requirement" for minimum oil spec's. I am sure it is a very good oil, but I am also thinking that Mobil 1 fully synthetic oil is still better. GM can now market their vehicles for lower operating costs per vehicle, not to mention saving nicely on the factory fill on any models that used to require Mobil 1 on their 2012 models. Smart move actually. I think I will stay with Mobil 1 in mine for now though, as it doesn't cost much anymore if you shop around. I suppose the 2012 Vett's will not say Mobil 1 on their oil caps any more.

At the engine plant here in St Catharines we are now filling all V6 engines with Dexos. The tanks have been purged of the mineral and Mobil 1 oils. I will run over to the V8 side soon to see if they have switched the Corvette engines as well.
