Ford has yet to officially release pricing for the 2012 Mustang Boss 302, but a forum member over at TheMustangSource.com with some inside information has revealed that the special edition pony car will retail for $40,995 including destination and delivery. This places the Boss 302 almost squarely in the middle between the Mustang GT and the Shelby GT500.

While certain things like a navigation system won't be available, Boss 302 customers will have a few options to choose from. Recaro seats and a Torsen differential adds $1,995, an Accessory Package with floor mats and car cover go for an extra $475, and Yellow Blaze Tri-Coat paint is an additional $495. The track-oriented Laguna Seca Package comes in at a grand total of $47,990.

At first we weren't sure about the complete accuracy of the information, but a representative at Ford has confirmed these numbers and options. So is the 2012 Boss 302 a steal at $40,995 or is that crazy money for a hopped up pony car with a live rear axle? Let us know in the comments below.

It's cheaper than a less-appointed Camaro and the engine improvements alone make it a better deal.

I didn't realize the new camaro SS had creap up in price ..Wow!

I do agree the engine, suspension and braking package is awesome.

I'd suggest 43 grand is closer to the number because ordering up one of the boss 302's ....I'd imagine at the very least.....the recaro seats (how cool is that) and the special differential for 2 grand extra is a must do...

The other few options are less than a must have...but the diff and the seats are a gotta have in my opinion..

43 large is reaching but with the limited production planned by ford...the mustang enthusiast will be paying list plus...or at the very least MSRP..

and it will be worth it.

I hear this new mustang Boss 302 finally takes out the M3 on the racetrack which is heralded territory to say the least..

GM needs to answer the calling and I think it will take a year to do it..

The battle between camaro and mustang will go back and forth for years and will make the PR departments of both ford and chevy have a much easier time getting Magazine covers and internet forum chatter to incite consumer interest..

I love it! Now these are the ways to grow the brands. Keep raising the bar!!!

Again...JMO

EDIT>>>the two sets of keys to change the settings of the pcm is again a stroke of genius!

I seriously doubt GM will respond. Ford doesn't have to answer to treehugger fun governors in Congress.

Unless the Z/28 will run on rainbows and puppy smiles, Ford wins the pony car race by default.

I have a feeling the z28 will price in at 44900..base price MSRP ..and even at 50 grand the z28 with 556hp should be quite cool to drive and own..

I like the pricing on the 31 grand Camaro SS LS3 too...

thats the way I'd option it out....nada and have a blast..

The 43 grand for the boss 302 is cool if a bit pricey...(gotta have the diff and the recaro seats)

Great work by ford for sure.

Dunno where you've seen a Camaro SS that cheap. All I've seen in Ann Arbor are $38k+

Must be stripped and the ones I see are loaded. I've seen some in the 40s. I'd take a year old Vette first.

I would not buy either the Camaro or Mustang. They cost too much. I would spend the same amount on a Used C6 or C5. There is absolutely no comparison. I spent 29k on my c5 Z06 with 8900 miles.I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! The last decent Camaro's/Firebirds were the 4th gens..Mustangs do nothing for me.

Its true...preowned vettes are clearly the better vehicle to buy ..

Still...that doesn't take anything away from the new boss 302 mustang or the camaro Z28 with its 556hp supercharged LSA motor..

The depreciation factor on these pony cars available today will offer preowned buyers a hell of a deal as well...

We are very lucky to have such great new vehicles available in the showrooms..

It sure beats the past when enthusiasts suffered because of emissions and safety..

We have some pretty cool cars nowadays..

IMO of course..

Happy holidays

JB
