I'm picky admitted, but have always had bad luck with every tire replacement. I've tried experienced tire guys, the big shops, private performance shops with GSP9700 and they all take repeated visits to get it right. New cars come with perfectly balanced tires that last for their duration. What does the factory do that the civilian shops don't? I've heard machines can seat tires in a "stretched" position that cause balance issues. Does the factory have different equipment or are the tires delivered to factories pretty close to perfect balance before installing on the wheel? Any insight would be helpful. My Z06 wheels are ready for a new set and i want this done right the first time. thank you.

Good question. I think most of it is the guys who bust tires are not always the highest skilled/motivated to get the job done perfectly. Factories have a lot of automation that takes the human element out. The other thought is that as the miles pile up on the car, stuff begins to wear, bearings, bushings, shocks, all the stuff that keeps the tires tracking the way they should. Anyone else?

interesting. i've wondered the same thing. just replaced the OEM tires on my CTS @ 40K. NEVER a balance issue, tires were only rotated once at 15K with an alignment and wore perfect.
