I have a 2006 MN6 car, 37000 miles. No mods whatever. This past week, I started getting intermittent Air Bag warning light on the dash. Never occurred before now. Comes on and off while driving without making any adjustments to seat or steering column. Will be on for a few minutes and then go off. It seems to occur on a frequency of its own choosing and so far I cannot correlate it to anything such as bumps in road. There has been no passenger in car since this started. Is there a "connector fix" for this issue as there is for the Service Active Handling light issue? I have looked through TSB section + done searches and about all I could come up with were a few posts that seem to suggest the issue may be traced to a connector under one of the seats. I plan on checking connectors and wiring under seats. Car is under extended GM warranty but before taking it to dealer I wanted to check for obvious causes and ask here if there is something specific I should look for. Thanks in advance.

HI there, What you will probably need to do is to disconnect the connectors under the seat and clean them with electrical contact cleaner. At that time, inspect the wiring harness very carefully for signs of chaffing or pinching. If there is ANY DAMAGE, the wiring must be repaired per GM guidelines for air bag wiring. Allthebest, c4c5 |

HI there, It can be, sure. The key would be the diagnostic trouble codes stored in the air bag system. Allthebest, c4c5 |

I have driven the car a few times since the first post and the air bag warning light has not come on again (except for the normal six flashes at engine start). I have two follow up questions. 1) Can I trust that the SIR is working or was the few times that I got the intermittent air bag warning light displays sufficient to view the system as suspect? 2) It appears that to clean/lub the various SIR related connectors under the seats requires removing seat mount bolts to gain access to the connectors. How involved is it to assure the SIR will not inadvertently fire while doing this? Is it sufficient to remove the air bag fuse on the BCM under the passenger floor? If assuring disarming the SIR is not a straight forward thing I am going to leave all this to a dealer Corvette tech.

Hi there, If your air bag light is ON, your air bags will NOT function correctly. As long as your air bag light is OFF, your airbags will work properly. Allthebest, c4c5 |

Hi. If I were working on air bag connectors (steering wheel, under the seats, etc.) , I would disconnect the Negative terminal of the battery FIRST. I would HIGHLY recommend an Authorized GM dealer to do any air bag work. Considering what's at stake, the dollars would be well spent. Careful, M....

I had the same problem with my 'o6. I took it to the dealer and they replaced something under the seat (covered by warranty) and it works fine now. Personally, I would not mess with it. The dealer has all of the right tools to figure out the problem and fix it.
