So a couple of weeks ago I took my 89 vette in to the dealership and had new fuel injectors put in along with all the rings and gaskets supplied and recommended by many to have done,,along with a new thermostat and the tech used one (left side) valve cover gasket I left for him in case he needed them.... Anyways,, the car never leaked oil in its entire life and now after driving it only a 100 miles or so I have a nice puddle of oil on my garage floor about the size of a coffee cup saucer.... Me and the shop mgr. got into a big arguement about how I wanted the fuel injectors done,, by factory shop manual as many suggested.. So by me now calling him up and saying hey i have a leak,, thats gonna open up another can of worms leading to another arguement of which i dont feel like messing with as I am recovering from back surgery this past week.... The leak seems to be coming from behind the oil pan from the other piece of metal ( a guard perhaps for something).....the oil on the floor is behind the oil drain plug 2 -3 inches..... I know thats rough but is it possible the tech caused this or just "bad" timing.... thanks Doug

A puddle of oil the size of a saucer is a big leak and needs to be fixed. If it happened immediately after your service work, and never leaked before the work was done, then it is possible that the service work may have caused it. Possibly the valve cover gasket was installed improperly? Hard to tell with out diagnosing it. I would definatley let them look at it and see what they determine what is wrong. Make sure that you clearly state that it happened immediately after their repairs, and that you don't feel that you should be charged any labor for the initial diagnosis. Any quality repair facility will look at a problem immediately after a repair, at no charge to the customer, for the initial diagnosis. Good luck with it.

I'm not sure how changing the injectors could cause a leak, unless they disturbed a fitting someplace-or as LLC5 suggests, a poor-fitting valve cover gasket. You replaced them too right? Never, never, never reuse gaskets not specifically intended to be reused--and maybe not even then. They're cheap, so why risk it? My best suggestion is to throughly clean the engine and inspect carefully after a little driving to trace the path. A hoist would be very helpful. Could be a loose oil temp or pressure sending unit, a split or poorly fitted oil cooler hose, a loose oil filter, a loose drain plug, etc.

the oil pressure sensor at the base of the distributor is fragile and prone to leaking ID suggest a close inspection
