CM Replace stock C5 manifold with Z06 manifold

I have a 1998 vette convertible with an X-pipe, Magnaflow catback exhaust, K&N cold air filter, mass air flow sensor, and throttle body. Will have it tuned in next month or two. Car has an automatic transmission.
I am thinking of replacing my stock C5 manifold with a Z06 manifold. How much horsepower will I gain? Do you recommend making the change, and if so, which manufacture would you recommnend?

It all depends on what you want and how you drive your vert. If you're racing at WOT most of the time, you may notice an improvement. But very little improvement in performance if you don't. The mods you've already done are the most common, but then most of the improvement we get with a LS6 manifold is just in "our heads"......if you know what I mean! ha

Have fun!

Hi Fixvet,
Many thanks for the quick and useful reply. I no longer have a leadfoot and have become a very conservative driver. I was looking for that sudden seat of the pants rush when I occasionally stomp on it. Your advice saved me much money which I can now spend on vette cosmetics.
Thank you, Bill

I put the intake on my car and my numbers are in my signature.

I did not get a tune with mine though when I had it dyno'ed.

I also went with a brand new kit made by SLP and it was a GM intake part.

Lastly, I did not care for the looks of the FAST intake, wanted the car to look normal. I hear the FAST yields even more gains though.

Now go play with your tools!

ToolGuy,
Great advice. It's times like these that I wish I lived in a warmer part of the states. We've got about 12 inches of snow on the ground and it's been snowing all day. Doesn't look like I'll be doing much playing for at least a month.

I hear you Oogie!
I'm counting down the days to when I can at least turn my car around in my garage, start it and work on it. Its up against the front of my garage and I can even open the hood. I have a box of new parts waiting for it too!

Oh and BTW, the intake swap took just about an hour to do, if you do decide to get one.

Now go play with your tools!

You're welcome Bill. I'm now an old retired guy and my '98 with the very few perf. mods I've done to it is still more than enough to scare the crap out of me when I get frisky with the right pedal these days. I love the handling on my weekly cruises on the Ozarks back roads here in SOMO.

Take care!
