CM Steering colunm lock (sos)

AHHHH! Spring in New England, After the 3+ feet of snow melted, i peeled back the cover on my 01/z06 last week. Checking for any signs of rodents she was fine. I put the jumper cables on her and she fired right up.After a brief warm up i took her out and did the pothole slalom for an hour or so. Felt real good. Today i went to take her out and got the pull key for 10sec. right into service column lock. Now i had this fixed on the recall 2 yrs. ago. So what do i do now,is there a recall on the recall or am i gonna get wacked with a big bill i can't afford right now if i take it to chevy.Any help would greatly appreciated at this point. Last spring i spent a small fortune on this vette with a new tires, breaks, radiator, water pump,a/c comp.,belts and hoses ect. Thanks for any help !

HI there,

You battery probably got toasted over the winter.

Please have your battery tested, you need at least 12.5 volts and 500CCA.

Allthebest, c4c5

If your storing without a tender (which I do) charge your battery fully before disconnecting the negative terminal for storage .Then in the spring charge the battery again before connecting the ground .It should need very little charge time .It's very important on C5-C6 cars to maintain a good charge .I learned that from the previous poster.

Any battery that meets the original equipment spec will work .The biggest issue is maintaining a reasonable charge .All batteries in C4-C6 will have a constant drain .The first of the C6's we're terrible ,hell they had to boost 'em just to get them off the delivery trucks.
