HI there, What Caribou said is true for bumper to bumper warranty. However, your powertrain warranty, meaning your engine, transmission, driveline is good for 5 years/100,000 miles for leaks. Allthebest, c4c5 |

If it's one of the new environmental filters (ends in e) you can check my thread about oil filter leaks. I am Not a fan of the new e filters. :)

I just checked three GM filters on my shelf after reading your post. I have a UPF44, PF46, and a PF46e. The UPF44 is noticeably heavier and sturdier feeling than the other two, the PF46 is a lot less so, and the PF46e is smaller physically and quite a bit lighter and "tinnyier" (sp?) feeling. I just bought some new oil filters for both my Subaru's and the same thing- the new style OEM filters just plain look and feel like junk. Hopefully they work ok, but visually it is kind of hard to believe.

The new e filters remind me of the new e water bottles that are made of ultra thin plastic. Better for the land fills but when you hold the bottle tight to screw the cap off, then twist, you get a shower when it cracks open. ![]() Don't get me started on low flow toilets. :)

Lets not think that for one minute GM is going to engineer an oil filter that will leak. Allthebest, c4c5 |
