CM Projector headlamp install

Thought I would post on the projector headlamp kit I just installed. We all know, or should know, the C5 headlamps stink! I found this kit for $170 on ebay and was amazed the price has really come down on them. The kit comes in normal halogen projectors, or HID projectors for more $$$. I went with the halogen projectors.

Here's the kit. The kit comes with all the HID wiring and relays which you don't need. However the low beams are H9 bulbs, our cars do not use H9 bulbs. H9 are still halogen, just 10 watts brighter and use a different connector then what's on our cars. Now the kit does NOT come with instructions and says this, it also says professional install is recommended. With all the extra parts in the kit, you will need to make a jumper wire to mate to the cars wiring and the H9 bulb. See my pic. What you end up with is still plug and play, it's not hard to do. The high beams use the cars wires and plug and play.

So, here we go!

Here is the kit and wires.

Low beam jumper wires I made... I soldered the wire ends, but you really don't have to, you can use a crimp wire connector and then wrap it with elec tape if you want. I also shrink wrapped everything, again that's just me though.

Driver's side installed.

If you've never removed the headlamps, its pretty easy. Here's a quick procedure on how to:

1) Manually open the headlamp.
2) Remove the 3 phillips screws, holding the black bezel in place.
3) Unplug the grey headlamp motor connector.
4) Disconnect the grey motor connector fastener. Note: Release fastener through wheelwell with needle nose pliers. Gently squeeze it to release its locks and pull it through the engine side. It's end is grey also like the connector you can't miss it.

5) Remove the 3 10mm bracket nuts.
6) Remove the 2 13mm bracket bolts.
7) Remove headlamp assembly.
8) Unplug both bulb connectors.
9) Remove 3 10mm screws holding assembly in place.

Here's a pic of both installed! I think it looks bad ass now! Totally gave it an updated look and match the projector fog lamps.

At first review, they are brighter obviously due to the 10 watt brighter bulbs and the projector lenses. I have to get it out at night to really tell of course.

You can see the stockers had so much light scatter and not putting the light where its needed, on the road!

Note: For passenger install, you must disconnect both plugs from the headlamp module before you can remove the assembly from the car. Not hard of course, just don't lift it right out blindly.

I remember when these were the ACA's. Pretty pricey back then and hard to get a hold of. The only thing that I didn't like about these were that the high and low beams could not be adjusted individually. Other than that, I thought they looked outstanding. They definitely update the look of the ride.

I have since went to light cannons and these puppies put out major light.

Yep I remember ACA's and yes, they were pricey! The light cannons are still too expensive for me though and the night driving I do.

So a good crimp & heat shrink wrap is best?
