Went out today and bought a OPTMA red top 7525925 for my 01/Z06. I got it home and it too small. It flopped around in the tray and would not bolt down properly even with the plastic parts it came with. Took it back to and got my $235 back. Did i get the right one ? Can anyone recommend a good battery.

Got a Redtop in my 01. Two plus years. Fits like it should. Sounds like you had the wrong size. Mark

I replaced the stock AGM in my 2003 a few years ago with a Deka Intimidator - 9A78DT. They come with a short warranty. When I expressed concern because it was for a Corvette used only for Summer months, he laughed, wrote Corvette convertible on the invoice, and said if it fails within 5 years, or as long as he's here, he'll give me a new one. http://www.dekabatteries.com/assets/base/1143.pdf Works for me.

Could a Z06 hold a bigger battery? The optama web site does not list Z06. It is not a 75/25/925. No rush, It's Freaking snowing again in New England.

The one I got at Costco is rated ca 910 cca 720 rc 90 the rc is a little lower than oem but it's fine if you run the car at least weekly. If it sits for a 3-4 weeks you are probably gonna have issues. Should be on a charger anyway if that's how the car is run. The model is SC75U on the top label. It's a dual top/side conn battery & I just dropped it down the hole & one of those standard plastic wedgy things clamps it at the bottom when you tighten the bolt down. I believe that gm went to top post batt on the 04 after all the leaking problems with side conn batteries so there may be some difference. Hope this helps. I did have to twist the connectors around a bit as the Optima may be a little taller or something but it worked. :)

You are going to want a battery with at least 500 CCA, and a reserve capacity (RC) as close to 120 as you can get, especially if it sits a lot. As far as battery warranty's go, only believe the free replacement warranty, a pro- rated warranty will cost you more than a new battery. Good luck with it.
