CM Erratic idle and code after install

Hello,
2008 z06' installed a cold air intake, lpe ported tbody and lpe ported intake manifold. Check engine light is coming on with code p1516, under throttle car is fine, at idle it hunting, worse when cold, between 550-750 rpm.

P1516 is a tps/computer input mismatch- anyway can I get this tbody to work, and is the surging/ hunting at idle the cai or the tbody? Thx!

HI there,

Its probably a combination of the 2 that are creating your condition on the surging and hunting issue.

The P1516 is actually a throttle actuator control module performance code. This occurs when the computer wants a certain placement for the throttle blade and it cannt get it to occur.

My thoughts are to recheck to make sure there are not any pinched wires and other issues that could cause electricity to be cut off to the throttle body.

Also, you must do an idle relearn and minimum air rate set after installation of a throttle body.

Was that done ????

HI there,

The idle relearn and minimum air rate is set with a Tech2/Candi module.

Unfortunately, unless you have one, you cannot perform this function.

Truthfully, though, i would be concerned more with the P1516 than the idle surging right now!!!

I received a new replacement cold air intake bridge from the manufacturer which relocates the MAF sensor to a more stock location and the erratic idle is solved.
Still had the P1516 code however. I took the stock throttle body and put it back on. Am I out of luck in terms of using the ported tbody? Is it worth any performance gains anyhow? Thx.

HI there,

Unless you are looking at MAX gains, ported throttle bodies usually do not do much at all and IMO, not worth the money unless heavily modified.
