c4c5, Thanks for going the distance on this one. It has become one of those gremlins that come and go. Today, the noise appeared again on my way home from work and I was able to pull the connector from the alternator, however, it did not solve the white noise/static issue. I'm leaning toward the amp again. I hate the shotgun approach but with my limited experience it's the easiest route for me to take. I have ruled out a speaker malfunction as the speaker switch did not solve the problem - the grounds look tight, dry, and well secured - the last link seems to be the amp. I know you did a search on my vin# and you probably saw that Chevy had my car for a week trying to solve a vibration and hum issue coming from the dashboard. Needless to say they had the entire dash apart. I wonder if something came loose or if a ground is not secured. I will say that the service tech did an outstanding job as there is absolutely no sign of my dash area being disassembled to the frame. I applaud the level of excellence you guys show! When I purchase another amp, I'll give you an update...if I haven't traded in for a new 2012 Grand Sport or used Z06. Thanks again for your time spent trying to find a solution. chris

What I would be interested in knowing is if this problem started only after the dashboard was apart. Also, if that is the case, did it start immediately after the repair? Basically, what is the time-line on the repair vs. your concern?

The repair was done 1 year ago - April 2010. I first started hearing the noise around August/September 2010. I first attributed the noise/static to a related storm that was happening. I didn't give it much thought at the time but I believe this was the start of it. As I mentioned previously, it would come and go without any indications. It is only recently that it is now an everyday occurrence if the radio is left on long enough. Sometimes when I turn the radio/cd on it's already hissing, yet, equally when I turn on the radio/cd it plays fine...for a while. I thought the problem may be heat related but that was proven untrue as it has occurred when I first turn on the radio in the morning. I can live without the radio (although it would would be nice if everything work as it should) however, making calls with OnStar has been challenging. And, this has been my main concern for finding a solution.
