CM Navy Blue variants?

Soon I'll be bringing in my 2000 Coupe to have the nose repainted. A very top shop in my area did it the last time, and it really was off on color, and they tried it twice.

I decided to let it ride because they had been good to me in the past, and I knew I was a loss to them after painting it twice

In trying to depart my garage this winter after not driving the car for 1.5 months, I grazed the the side of an icey bank of snow that cracked the urethane at the turn signal, and a lot of paint came off- cracked.

One time when I was looking up touch up paints at an Autozone, I saw that there were 2 different color codes for Navy Blue. Could this have been the problem with the body shop?

I'm trying another shop anyway, because the first shop was much pricier. What would be a good price to do the whole nose over? Can the nose crossed flags be re-used, or are they throw away?

Best,

Bluemill

If the urethane bumper is cracked it can be repaired but I would replace it if it were mine.

The correct code is on the car.
Take the car to a paint distributor and see if he can match it.
If he can buy a quart of the base and the proper reducer.
That would be enough to spray the nose.

Your color never should have been really way off as you describe. The two different codes for navy blue should not have been a problem for the body shop as quality body/paint shops can computer match colors perfectly. I wouldn't let it ride a third time as there is no excuse for it now days. Find another body/paint shop and let them know that you expect the color to match the rest of the vehicle. Good luck with it.

Mine front fascia was cracked in the same exact spot. The body shop repaired it twice and once it was flexed, it cracked in the same place again. I would not recommend having one repaired.

There should be only one code for Navy Blue Metallic. And it's listed in the glove box after BC/CC you should see 352E. Factory paint is DuPont.

Also, there are different primers and clear coats that can affect the match. A good paint shop should have a problem with it. Nor would they give a customer a car whose paint doesn't match.
