Preparing to change differential fluid in my 08Z & called 2 different local Chevy Parts Counters asking for part numbers as well as prices. Was told that the required p/n was 89021677 @ $35.08 qt. Was kinda thinking maybe this superseded the original LS fluid p/n 88862624 until the first guy started talking about it's also needing the friction modifier. The 2nd Parts guy also quoted 89021677 but said it was LS fluid & doesn't need the friction modifier. So now I'm wondering, just what is the correct GM fluid for an 08Z? Is there an aftermarket fluid that is as good or better? Thanks in advance!

To reduce clutch plate "chatter", I think GM puts in the LS fluid (that already has the modifier in) and an additional coupla ounces of friction modifier. Do you have "chatter?" Have you submerged the axle and got water in it? Just trying to figure out why you're changing your fluid.

Hi there, 88862624 is the absolute BEST FLUID for your rear axle. Just fill it and your done. No modifier is required. Allthebest, c4c5 |
