CM Manual Shifter Problem

2007 Z51
6 Speed
28k miles

Up until a month ago shifter worked great. Distinctive "Metalic Click" into each gear and no issues getting into each gear.

A month ago the Metalic Click stoped. Mentioned it to the dealer and they decided to put a new shifter in.

Now...no Metalic Click into gears...each shift notchie and difficult to get into gears at times. Now the shifter just feels "sloppy"....Help!!

HI there,

The shifter will have to be adjusted per GM service information.

The installation is NOTHING without the adjustment.

Thank Paul

Is the Metalic Click a common characteristic of the C6 Shifter? I sure do miss that sound.

Paul,

I am in the Jacksonville, Fla area. How can I find a certified corvette mechanic. I would prefer at a dealer as the car is underwarranty. Or a private mechanic if I have no other choice.

Thanks for your help

CM OE Adjustabitity????????

Wait a minute. Ive changed out several of these stock shifters including my own. Ive intsalled short throws for people that are adjustable, but dont see anything adjustable about the stock shifter. ??? The only goofy thing that stirs conversation is that L shaped pin in the front. It looks like some sort of shifter locking device durring assembly line work. ???

HI there,

That goofy L shaped pin is to line up neutral and then torque the 3 bolts.

Place trans in neutral, loosen the 3 bolts, push the pin down fully and then torque to specification.

Pull pin UP and your shifter adjustment is complete.

It's like an allen wrench, I think there is a pic in the FSM if you have one.

I never really put much effort into that thing. I recognized it as a neutral lock but fugured it was for assembly of the body to drivetrain. I have never had any issues with installing the aftermarket or OEM shifters. The only adjustment i was aware of was aftermarket detent pressure. I did find a little info for the C5 that suggests inserting the pin in the rear to line up neutral but no info on C6 for what its worth.
