CM Another "pull key wait 10 seconds"

I got this message after a k harness was installed at a dealership 250 miles from my home. I only get it when it is warm outside - above 70 or 74 degrees and I have driven it for awhile. After I put the key back in it will start fine. I tried the bypass but it made no difference. I have replaced the battery, ignition switch, cleaned all of the body grounds and got a new key. I did not want to go back to the dealership. I am at my wit's end.
Thanks.

If the column lock in your car has been disabled (steering wheel does not lock). You might want to think about having a tuner change the fuel cutoff from 2MPH to 200MPH. That would keep you from being stranded if it does not reset when you pull the key and re-insert it.

Ya! I am in the same boat as you. A $230 sears battery was my last shot. Now I'am waiting for the flatbed to show up. I tell you it's hard to be a CORVETTE ENTHUSIAST when you spend more time and money being a CORVETTE MECHANIC !

HI there,

The original POSTER must understand that if he just had this work done and there is still an issue, the dealership is RESPONSIBLE!!!!!!

GO back there and talk to the service manager.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

If you are told that they fixed IT, THEY BETTER HAVE FIXED IT!!!!

This is NOT rocket science, BUT it requires accurate diagnostics with a Tech 2 and correct installation of components.

Allthebest, c4c5

Ok! just one last question; Would the steering wheel postion sensor cause the column to think it's locked? The service manager was quite sure i needed one. $$$ Don't get me wrong i love working on my 01Z06. I have done every thing from headlight gears to rear swaybar links.I just get kind of discouraged when i can'do it myself. SORRY !

HI there,

No, the steering wheel position sensor has NOTHING to do with the column lock system.

It only gives information to the active handling system and has NO BEARING on the function of the column lock actuator.

But when dealerships just throw parts and claim its fixed, this is what Corvettemechanic.com stands against.

Its your hard earned money, you should not have it wasted by a dealership with shoddy ethics.
