CM Can a 1lt c6 use a 3lt steering wheel (and have button controls work?)

So this Z06 ultra suede steering wheel is available from GM parts direct.com at a very attractive price. Its the stock Z06 steering wheel from the carbon fiber model.

Can the buttons on the steering wheel be plugged into the steering column of a 1lt 2008 corvette and have the buttons functional or would the steering wheel control buttons just be for show?
Can the steering wheel control wiring just plug in to work the radio and whatever else they do...or is the wiring different in 1lt cars vs. cars with steering wheel controls?

BTW...the wheel comes with black suede and either blue or orange stitching..

Which would you pick for a black on black 08 vette? or would you just go with black stitching from an aftermarket vendor?

If I bought a wheel with the buttons on the spokes can we take off the buttons...and the silver panels and replace them with the silver plastic spokes I have on my present wheel?

The group buy on this ultra suede wheel is way to attractive so I thought I'd ask the wonderful techs on this site.

Thanks in advance.

HI there,

We would have to remove the horn/airbag module and look to see if the connection is there behind on the airbag coil.

Rather than make the wheel buttons work. Any chance we could just take the spoke cover off my wheel and put it on the new wheel.....

Can we remove the buttons themselves relatively simply and then just put my silver spoke cover over it?

So I can buy this wheel with the buttons on it...Have a wonderful technician remove the stock steering wheel....Take the silver spokes off my existing steering wheel....then take the new wheel....remove the buttons...and the plastic spokes that have holes for the buttons and have the solid silver spokes without holes on the new rim?

How much labor time is involved? Is it a pain or a simple job?

Then I'd like to have the wheel installed.

What about replacing the shift knob? Maybe the shifter boot?

Would all that take an hour of labor?

Would you go for blue stitching? or orange? or would you wait 6 months for red stitching?

Or do you prefer leather? LOL Sorry for all the questions

Fathers day is coming and I'm trying to think of something to buy.. ;)

I could do the aftermarket D shaped wheel or I could buy the GM product with alcantra..

You guys like the blue stitching with suede?

I figure I could do the shift knob and the steering wheel...

The wheel is 207 dollars
the shift knob is fifty seven dollars and if I want the shift boot? its another 54 dollars..

Whats your opinion? Will this look good without any other blue in the vehicle?
