Exclamation Winshield Wiper Motor Pump

I have replaced the windshield wiper motor pump on my 98 C5. It will not pump when the button is pushed. I have tested the pump it works and have tested the lead going to the pump itself. Separate they seem to work but when they are put together, nothing. any suggestions??

Hi there,

I would like to ask what do you mean by 'tested' ?

What is your voltage ???

Does the switch light a test light when you place the test leads between the 2 connector pins ??

Allthebest, c4c5

Hi there,

Something is wrong with the diagnostics. If you light a test light when performing the test, and you do NOT run the motor, then either its a bad connector or your motor has too high a resistance to run when supplied by the actual circuit.

I would get my hands on another known good pump motor & plug it in to the car. When you tested the original was it in the car or out of the car? How was it tested? Maybe the testing jarred the brushes/armature?

I was not able to test the old one, it was corroded and rusted. I tested the new one out of the car and had it tested at the dealership as well.
