I have an 82 collectors edition with 88,000 miles on it. It ran fine but the idle was high when I bought it. One day I was driving and the car lost power , even when pressing on the gas. I change the plugs and check for vac leaks and went to check the timing. I could not find the TDC mark on the balancer and noticed it has moved to the timing cover. I was able to pry it away to start the car to check the timing but no mark in sight , I check from plug 1 to 6 and tried to move the distributor but no mark. the car will idle with a bad loop and then stall, if I pull up on the egr the car will idle when held. I believe I need a new timing chain and damper. Please help with any ideas you may have . Thanks, gbudd | ||||||||||||||||||||

HI there, I would agree with you based on your description. I would also be checking your fuel injectors and exhaust back pressure. Timing chain, probably not, but if your going to be in there I can understand the change. Allthebest, c4c5 |
