In every C5 I've had I've been able to make it unlock by jerking the wheel against the stops while turning the key to the "ON" position. Every friend that's had a C5 who's called me with a locked column has been successful using that method as well.... every single one. The shop swears they're doing that and it's not working, but obviously I'm not there. Is there a way to just remove the lock mechanism? Or another way to force it to unlock? The car has no interior and no dash at all so the column is 100% accessible... all of it. ~Brian

As I mentioned on the other forum I've told them to check all the battery connections first. It's been kept on a charger. The car is gutted... can I remove the column lock module in some manner? ![]() ![]()

Geez by tthe looks of the car, I would make sure what Froggy said is happening. Make sure the battery is on a charger and showing 12 plus volts. The lock is controlled through the BCM and not a separate column lock module. The only way to defeat it from the BCM is to have the by pass kit. The car probably has a ton of codes which does not help being that the interior and doors are all apart.

HI there, You can just by removing the lock plate and then the actuator. Leave it connected to the wiring harness though. Allthebest, c4c5 Allthebest, c4c5 |
