buzzing noise from dash

I have a 2007 Z06. I sometimes hear a buzzing noise from the center area of the dash, above the radio. It seems like it comes from the plastic screen that looks like a speaker cover in the center of the dash (anyone know if that's a speaker or not?). I've read a lot of threads from other forum sites that talk about the dry sump system O ring, or navigation disc running, or cabin filter issue. The sound only occurs when the car is being driven at freeway speed (65-150) haha. It persists whether the radio/nav or A/C is on or off. Very annoying. Have to crank the stereo to drown it out. I'm super meticulous and cannot stand the noise!!!

Hi there,

It could be the defroster grille, yes there is a speaker under there and it could also be the cowl screen at the base of the windshield.

I had the exact same noise on my '08 Z06 and it turned out to be a leaf that had worked it's way into the cabin air filter. It would buzz at certain speeds. Took me 6 months to find it.

Once you pull the filter, get a flashlight and inspect the filter compartment for debris.

Glad you found it. I now pull and inspect the filter at each oil change.

Enjoy the Z. FWIW, the cruise control works at 160!
