I recently installed an LS-7 intake assembly on my '08 LS-3 coupe. The car runs great as it did before and I haven't noticed any difference in performance or sound. However, it looks much better under the hood with the large square plastic box gone, (which was the primary reason for the swap). I have heard from other "knowlegable" enthusiasts that the helmloltz resonator was installed to increase performance and eliminate flat spots in quick acceleration at low speeds. ???? I thought it's main purpose was to reduce noise in the induction tract to help pass mandated drive by sound regulations. Any input on this subject is appreciated. Hi there, It was STRICTLY FOR NOISE REDUCTION, nothing else. It did nothing for power or throttle response. Allthebest, c4c5 |

It was designed to reduce intake noise so that the exhaust could be heard, especially with the NPP exhaust. Consumers complained about the lack of exhaust note in the corvette. In 2008, GM responded ( along with many other improvements) with the Helmholtz chamber and the optional NPP exhaust. Thanks for listening GM!
