My brake lights are staying on. They are on constantly unless I apply the brakes then they go off. I tested this in the garage. If I push on the pedal really hard they will come back on again. It takes a second or so after releasing the pedal and the lights are back on. After driving 20 minutes like this home, service active handling appeared on the DIC. Is this just a simple adjustment, or something more complex?

HI there, You may need to confirm the adjustment of the brake pedal position sensor. That is not something that can be done without a Tech 2., So, that is something that will have to be done. Then you can proceed with diagnostics. Allthebest, c4c5 |

So I need to take it to the dealer? That is not what I wanted to hear. I appreciate the response.

Sorry, but the key is that the brake lights are turned on by the BCM and the input is the pedal position sensor. Allthebest, c4c5 |

I went home to get the car so that I could drop it off at the dealership and it is now working fine. Not sure if it fixed itself while it sat for 3 days, or if it is a short somewhere. They advised to wait to bring it in until it is experiencing the problem again. Hopefully it won't return since it is out of bumper to bumper warranty.

So it has to be a loose connection. It did it again on the way home yesterday and worked fine this morning. Any ideas on where to look for a loose connection, or does it need to go to the dealership?
