CM Clutch problems

93 LT1. just had my slave cylinder and master cylinder replaced due to the slave leaking. The clutch now grabs about a half inch from the top, and slips a little when you get on it. Is there any adjustment for the clutch. My machanic don't know what else to do. The clutch was working fine other then the slave dripping.

Thank you,
Mike the Plumber

HI there,

Unfortunately, if this condition just occurred AFTER slave/master replacement, there must be an issue.

Were the slave or master adjustable ???

Did the clutch slip before???

If not, there is something else going on.

slave or master never sliped or were adjustable.
Everthing was fine except for the slave dripping.
I read something about a spacer, but i don't know what my mechanic did yet i'll find out later. maybe something wrong with the parts ?
thank you for helping.

Hi there,

From GM, there are no spacers or anything else.

They are direct bolt on, bleed the system and then you should be good to go.

Hi there,

Simply put, its possible.

I would just disconnect the master cylinder from the pedal and see if it stops slipping.

Just a thought, could it have been slipping before you replaced the master and slave?

I know on my 92 I could only notice the slipping when shifting into 3rd and then hammering it thru the turn. It would then "sing". New flywheel and clutch and its all happy again.

How many miles on the flywheel and clutch?
In my experince somewhere over 100K miles the dual mass flywheel is near the end of its life - it needs to be checked as well.

Hi guys, thanks for all the help.
Had the clutch replaced. They said the flywheel was good. ( I hope.) Dual mass you mean twice the price. WOW.
Any thoughts about a better oil then M1.
Thanx Mike the plumber.

Twice the price for a dual mass - in your dreams. They are now unobtainable. As in they don't make them any more for our cars.
There is a heavy single mass that eliminates most of the "rocks in a can" noise.

Better oil than M1 - not really. Last months Costco coupon allowed me to get 6qt cases for around $25.
