CM Grinding shifting into 2nd gear

I have resently notice grinding when shifting into 2nd gear. worse when cold and really bad down shifting from 3rd.
I have a MGW short shifter, Spec stage 1 clutch and Aluim flywheel.
The 04 ZO6 has 21Kmi on it.I have bled the hydrolics from below and through the master clyinder on top which i got 5-6 bubbles out. Changed to Amsoil ATF. Check with MGW and they say no adj is nescessary to the shifter. My conclusion is I need a Trans rebuild for 2nd gear syncro's.
Any other Ideas?

Hi there,

Lets see, what to start with.

#1, shifter adjustment is ALWAYS necessary if it has not been done. MGW or any OTHER shifter for that matter.

#2, Get the AMSOIL out of the transmission, ASAP. Install Redline D4 ATF and then reevaluate the condition BEFORE you try to rebuild the unit.

Allthebest, c4c5

Changed oil to Redline, readjusted shifter by loosening two rght side bolts and removing shift shaft bolt, then sighting in the whole till notch lined up with hole then retightened right side bolts and reinstalled shaft bolt. Shifts the best it ever has but still grinds into 2nd but not as bad.

Going to reinstall org shifter to see what happens cause thats when it started. If still grinds then local shop wants 2k to rebuild tranny. Any good Companies out there That would ship me a rebuilt one or i send mine to Them? What do you recommend?

Here is a link to a thread about shifter adjustment.

There is a pin you push down before you tighten, I don't know about "sighting in on the notch".

You may want to try it again & use the factory procedure.

That is the exact proceedure I followed, if you read the link the the third bolt inserted allowed a certain amount of play back and forth but by removing it and sighting down the hole you can align the notch for the bolt and the hole better than just sticking in the bolt. I used a drill bit and had to remove the whole assembly and clean up some burrs on the slots to allow it to easily slide in any direction bepfore tightening it down.

The local tranny shop owner has corvettes and had the same problem with a short shifter, (different brand shifter) he had them send a replacement shifter and it worked. When talking to MGW they said it wasn't the shifter because that would only cause it to not go in gear or with some difficulty. So before i spend lots of $ i will try the stk shifter, I already sold it to Corvette Recycling but he was nice enough to be sending it to me to try.
What a pain!!!

The aftermarket shifters causing shift issues is the big reason I want with a C6 shifter. GM made it shorter in height and throws!

It works great and no issues!

Now go play with your tools!
