Trying to cut down on road noise in a 2008 C6 Z51 with NPP exhaust (TKO BLOCKIT KIT)

Just thought I'd report back on my efforts to cut back on the road noise of my 2008 C6 Z51 with NPP exhaust. I have over 37 thousand miles....and

I love the car. Its really a great all around value performance machine yet as I rolled over 50 years old.....I tended to find the road noise or harmonics of the corvette wearing me down over the course of a few hours using my vette as a daily driver

Sure the corvette is beautiful, quick and good handling. Yes it has a top speed of 190 mph..yet with me driving over 37 thousand miles I found...it can have a harmonic sound inside the cabin that takes its toll as a daily driver so I started searching out ways to combat that issue.

I considered the kits where you need to pull out the interior and lay some material underneath the carpeting...but after examining the cost of the products and the cost or hassle for someone to install the kit.

I thought I'd give the relatively inexpensive and easily installed TKO performance Blockit kit. I was out in Long Island last week so I picked up the BlockIT kit. Installed in seconds...

and it really impressed me on the drive home. Seconds to install, looks good and most importantly it really cut down on the noise.

I don't have decibel ratings etc...yet I can tell you.....I took the edge off the sound wearing aspect of my c6 corvette coupe...

I had been thinking I could not continue to use my c6 z51 manual with NPP as a daily driver because the noise harmonics or whatever anyone wants to call it was beginning to wear me down after many miles in the car. Now with block it installed I can actually use my 2008 vette as a comfortable daily driver.

This is my third vette... a 99 coupe A4 Z51 and then c5 Z06..and now a C6 z51 with NPP.....

I have thought recently to sell my c6 corvette and go to say a CTS V coupe because it might be easier on me during my daily use of the vehicle...I really like the CTS V coupe but didn't care for the fact the roof doesn't come off (which I really enjoy) and I didn't love the fact I'd have to take an extra 40 grand of cash (plus my beloved c6 coupe)

Its a bitch getting older .... yet I still want to use my vette everyday without quite as much wear and tear on me.

The simple to install block it kit has made this possible.

I highly recommend this product for its ease of installation and most importantly for its effectiveness....

What is a TKO blockit kit?

Its a sound deadening item that looks very similiar to say a rear cargo mat (without the carpet but layered sound deadening material with a black plastic coating) and two pieces of similiar sound deadening material that lay in behind the seats..

Cut 10 dba of sound or so they say. I can only state that it takes the edge off the corvette coupe I own and makes travelling much more relaxing.

Installed in 60 seconds and worth the money (220) to buy.

Really was a good move in my opinion and I'm just sharing the info for others who might find the harmonic noise of the c6 coupe wearing them down after awhile of driving..

This kit worked for me. I smile every time I'm driving the car since installing this kit. Really increases the quality feel of the vette as it cuts down on the objectionable noises...

I think GM should sell the kit themselves..

I like the fact the vettes light...and this kit is removable in 60 seconds so if I don't want the 20 lbs of sound deadening I can remove it..

(which I'll probably never do) Nice kit.

do you have the fuse pulled out on the NPP exhaust system causing it to be open all the time. if this is the case the exhaust drone is bad at highway speeds.

I have the NPP exhaust with the M2W switch but I rarely use it. I like the stock setup as it serves me well. Once in a blue moon I set it to open but rarely use it that way for any length of time.

The noise reduction with this Blockit kit is impressive over longer use..

I'm not a scientist calculating Decibel reduction. I just know its cutting some of the noise that during daily use that wears a driver down.

I really am impressed with this kit and thought I'd pass this information along for those that also might want to cut down "wear factor" noise aspect of the vette...

This kit installs in 60 seconds.. is removable at a whim and is a better choice in my opinion than say a lloyds rear cargo mat....
