CM 63 corvette

Is a running temp of 200 degrees on a 327, 300hp sbc normal? It was 90 out yesterday and I drove the car about 30 miles. Temp gauge needle rose to the mark after 180 degrees which I read as 200. Motor operated fine.
It has a therm. degrees probably 180/190, and anti freeze. Ed
