CM Specific Maintenance

I have a 2006 with 59K miles, it will have been in storage for the past 12monthes, prior to this it was a daily driver, and it is only being started about once a month in storage. Besides a oil change is there anything specific I should be getting done or checked on the car to prevent any major problems? Thanks for the help.

HI there,

Really, it depends on how it was driven and maintained prior to that. This is what I would do.

At 60k, it would be suggested to replace all the fluids, brake, transmission, differential, coolant.

Have the alignment checked and the tires balanced also so you will know if the tires belt shifted permanently.

Lubricate all your latches on the doors, hood and rear hatch and test your battery to make sure its sound.

Top tier fuels and a bottle of Techron should keep the fuel deposits in check as well.

Allthebest, c4c5

In addition to what Paul wrote, I'd watch the gauges carefully upon startup and when driving for the first few miles. Coolant temp being probably most important.
Also, I'd listen diligently for any unusual noises during start up or for the first few minutes of operation.

Since it's an '06, you are getting close to "coolant change time".

Depending upon how much old fuel is in there, you may want to top off with "Tier one" quality fuel, or run it down to the minimum, then top off with the good stuff.
I wouldn't do any "WFO" runs with old gas as it won't do anything any good for the engine. In fact, I would drive it gingerly for a few hundred miles, until everything got recoated with fluid and heat cycled a few times. Especially for the transmission (if it's MXO.)
