CM How much would you pay for this?

2001/MAN/Coupe/65K
I found a vette a few house down from my parents. The asking price is 15,500. After speaking with the owner he told me that the fuel gauge reads low do to fuel sender in tank as well as loose wire for light in HVAC. He works at a Chervolet dealership and said he would fix those 2 things for the acking price. I asked to what would be the price to take it as is and he said 15,000. I took it for a test drive and everything felt good. The next day I took it to my mechanic for a look over.

Good price for the model yr and mileage. I'd have him fix the known issues and tell him about the two DTC's you found with your mechanic. It's all about condition, condition, condition and you can buy your own tires.

Offer $15K with everything fixed and no new DTC's after a test drive. Even buying your own new tires, it would be a fair price.

BTW...I doubt the tires are "dry rotted" with the modern rubber used today. Everyone has their own opinions about what tires should or should not look like or perform. Do your own homework before buying. TireRack.com has a ton of tire info....and good prices for C5 tires for a good driver car.

Good luck.

NADA book values are $12,500-15,600. I would want all the problems fixed properly (codes, especially the PO174 lean mix bank 2, fuel gauge, tires) as these can be very expensive fixes. If you have a state emissions check make sure you run it through it even if the tabs are not due as you may need it to pass to transfer the title in your name. Good luck with it.

The HVAC display issue is a common one and can be repaired, not replaced, by the right person such as on the internet, or if you can do it. The fuel gauge is also common and a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner might fix it, it might not though.

Both of these issues are discussed on this forum and many others to search for.
