C4C5, Well I took off the left Cat. made a wrech to work on the bleeder and bleed until the fluid was clear, after each re-fill of the master, the pedal stayed on the floor and had to be pulled back up, and it did not change anything on the car. As the pedal was being pumped, I was looking through one of the small holes in the bell housing, and it just looks as though there is not much movement of the pressure plate. You mentioned the slave could be sticking? What short of pulling the driveline could you do with a sticking slave?

Just some other possibilities. One thing that bothers me about the "clutch dust getting into the system via the push rod." If that were happening, wouldn't some clutch fluid leak out? At least some? It's kinda like brake dust getting into the fluid via the caliper piston seals. Yes, I know there are 2 seals, one for dust and one for oil, but it just seems odd that we can get debris into a pressurized system without getting fluid to go from a high pressure vessel to a lower pressure...

HI there, Based on what you have said, you most likely have a bad master cylinder. If the slave isnt moving and when you push the pedal down, it does not return, that should be the best course of action. No, you will not get any dust entering the system because if dust was getting in, fluid will be getting OUT. I think its just a bad seal in the master. Allthebest, c4c5 |

C 4C5, Thank you for the information, I did want to clarify, I was looking into the bell housing as the pedal was being pumped, and there was some movement, just not much. Also, if the master is bad, I can see where that would effect the clutch being disengaged, but what about the slipping ( engagement)? Could it be interanlly holding the slave from full release? I very much would like to only have to replace the master cylinder. Thanks again!

Well, let me go on record and proclaim c4c5, is one smart son of a gun! I replaced the master cylinder today, and the car is perfect! I took it for a short drive after I put it back togther, then brought it home washed it, took out the top and went for about a 50 mile run, it sure was a nice drive! I went with the Tick Performance adjustable master and what a quality piece! After I installed it I adjusted the pedal where it grabs where I like it and it is better than new! I would recommend it for every C6. Thanks c4c5, I really didn't think a master would fix it, but you were right, I still, from a mechanical stance, do not understand how it would have created the slipping, but it does not slip. As I said before, I drive this car very easy, but I did want to try it so I ripped a hard second gear shift, and all I got was wheel spin!
