This is a odd question but it must have an answer that you master technicians could comment on with your vast & diverse backgrounds. I have a 2003 LS1 Corvette and I've had it about seven years now. And I have a oil pressure question. When I first bought it, and I started the engine in the morning cold the oil pressure gauge, both analog and the DIC would register 50PSI and once warmed up it would read it had 42 PSI in gear at a stoplight. Sometimes it would read a steady 40 PSI in gear and warmed up. And when driving along it registered 45-50PSI. But now seven years later it now reads 40 PSI in the morning when it's cold and once warmed up in gear it reads 30PSI and when it is driving along at 40 to 60 MPH it reads 40 PSI. I have always garaged it from December to March with no starting the engine and a float charger on the battery. It has always been run on Mobil-1 5W/30 and a PH46 oil filter and it does not leak or burn any oil at all. Since I only run up about 1500 to 2500 miles in the warm weather, I only change the oil once a year in August as per the owners manual. And I'm not abusive on the car at all and it is still very solid and sturdy feeling when I drive it. I'm about to have the oil/filter changed again with Mobil-1 5W/30 and this time I'm installing a Mobil-1 oil filter and a magnetic oil plug. But I was wondering if you guys would comment on the change in oil pressures and your own perspective. The car has just 15000 miles on it and I know the owners manual is going to say this is normal, but I thought I'd get some of you gentleman's view of the change ? Thank you !

Your oil pressures are just fine. The possible difference in oil pressures from new to now could be related to normal bearing wear or oil sender electronics, either way you are doing good. I would say that 5W/30 is a good choice for a vehicle that sits a lot as you want oil pressure to the bearings asap. Good luck with it.
