I am wondering if this problem is just on my 97 C5. My HVAC is cooling fine, but the fan motor is not producing any volume of air. The fan is blowing at all the different speeds but it just doesn't seem to be putting out any volume of air through the vents. On a hot day you can feel cold air coming from the vents, but even on high speed there is not enough volume of air to cool the car. I hope this explanation is clear! Any ideas on what could be the problem would be appreciated!

Manual or Dual Zone (digital) HVAC? Can you hear the fan spinning at the different speeds under the passenger side dash? And it's just that you're not feeling the air? Or is the fan itself weakly spinning?

Do all your modes work properly? If so remove the blower motor and see if the fan cage is in good shape and that is attached the the blower motor properly/securely. Good luck with it.

It's a dual zone HVAC. I can hear the fan spinning at various speeds, but very little air is coming from the vents. It is almost like the air is being blocked or something! The HVAC does fine until the car gets really hot. Then it takes forever to cool it back down.

Sounds like you have a vacuum issue. When you try to change what vents the air is coming out of, are the correct vents blowing air? That is the first thing you need to check. The fun thing about your car is you have the old actuators that are notorious for going south. Add to that, they are not fun to change. By the way, you may want to look at your blower motor itself as mice love to make a nasty nest inside those things.

The correct vents are working. The air speed is just very slow no matter how fast the fan runs. There seems to be air coming from the defroster almost constantly. It seems to me that perhaps a diverter door may not be opening or closing. The HVAC is blowing cold air, I even had the freon checked to make sure it was ok. There is just not enough volume of air from the vents when the fan is on high, which is very frustrating in hot weather. I live in Alabama, so you can imagine how hot the summers are! I have been told to check the codes, but am not sure how to do that. Also have heard the actuators can be re-initialized but I am not aware of the procedures to do that! AS you can tell I am a total dummy about these things, so I need help badly! You have helped in the past with other problems I have had so I hope you have some input on this!,,Thanks!!!!!

Your problem is not a re-indexing problem so drop that from the list. Your problem appears to be blower motor related. First you need to pull your codes and post them and then we can take it from there. Pulling Your Codes 1. To pull the codes, turn the ignition key to the on position but DO NOT start the car. Make sure that your doors and trunk are closed so that the DIC (digital information center) doesn't start nagging you about a bunch of stuff. Next, hit the reset button to clear any nag messages that may be on the DIC. Then, while holding the Options button down, press the fuel button 4 times within a 10 second period. 2. At that point, the DIC will automatically start displaying all of the various modules and any codes that may be present in each module. You can stop this automatic mode and send the DIC into manual mode by pressing any button except the E/M button (that button causes the DIC to exit the diagnostic mode). You can then scroll through the codes using the Gauges button to go forward, and the Fuel button to go backwards. Here's an example of a code notification problem: ![]() As you can see by the picture above, the Power Control Module (PCM) is displaying that it contains 2 codes.

Ok. I pulled the codes. No codes on 99HVAC. I went ahead re-indexed and it actually does seem better. But it may just be me and wishful thinking! At least I have very cold air coming out of my vents, which I did before anyway. It is just not the volume of air I was expecting. Maybe being in 100 degree heat may have had something to do with it. Or it just may may be all she puts out,,LOL,,,Thanks for all the input from you all. You guys are amazing.
