Just got done reading Junkmans thread ( AWESOME read by the way, very informative ) and it got me thinking if maybe I have something semi related. So far ,knock on wood, with 53k on the clock, my Duel Climate Control still functions fine.......or does it? Is it normal for C5's to spew hot air on to your leg when you got the A/C off? It seems to coming from under the drivers side of the dash, along side of the torque tube tunnel. I haven't had a chance to pull the codes to see if it is in fact A/C related. I'm just wondering if maybe an actuator is not closing a flap or door and the heat from the engine is coming through duct work. Is this normal or common for a C5 ? Been working 12 hr night shifts and on my 8th one in a row without a day off so as soon as i get a chance I'll pull the codes to see if I have anything and i'll report back. In the mean time, if this sounds like something one of you has or had can you please chime in ?

Hi there, Flap doors binding against the foam that seals, actuators that just dont like to work, to wiring to the actuators. Many of these symptoms occur and the issue is to diagnose them accurately. Not fun at all, due to many factors. Allthebest, c4c5 |

If you have any car on fresh air from the outside mode, AC and heat off, it will pull ambiant air from the outside into the cabin. Ambient air and hot air from the engine. Putting it in recirculation mode and it should stop that, unless of course the foam is indeed causing the flap door to stay open. For example, if I hit my recirc button, AC off, it will stop the hot air from blowing in on my legs.

Well, I can tell you exactly what vent is air is coming through. I noticed it while I was reassembling everything. I had never noticed that vent before. It's tucked right beside the torque tube under the dash. You have to lay upside down to see it. The opening is pretty small too. I can post a pic if you need it.

Thanks so much for the heads up Gents. Now at least I have something to look for. As I mentioned in my OP, as SOON as I can get a day off from work I'll pull the codes and see if I got anything thats directly related to the issue. Someone mentioned to me that "You may want to confirm it is not just heat coming off the tunnel. It gets quite hot and many folks complain of it! " Thats what I'm wondering ![]() I only get this hot air when I have been driving it for a while and the Climate Control is off. My C3 (1980) was great for this. You could roast in the summer inside if you didn't have the A/C on !

Still haven't been able to pull codes................still working 12 to 16 hr days. Anyway, Looks like Tool Guy might have hit the nail on the head. Did as he suggested and no more blast furnace temps on my leg. I'll still pull the codes to see if it's anything related as soon as i get a chance ! Thanks you Gents for your time and knowledge !
