CM Driver seat ez in/out failure U1160H

I really like the ez in/out feature. Mine does not go all the way back anymore. It goes a couple of inches back & stops.

I have already replaced the entire seat adjuster assm once at 30k miles because the memory seat sensors failed.

Is this more of the same with the "all the way back" sensor failing?

2004 c5z 43k miles

If the answer is yes, who is the subcontractor/supplier who makes these C#$P seat adjusters?

Have you made sure that the option is turned on in the options area on the DIC? Also, can you manually move the seat all the way back? I bet it is turned off.

Yes I checked, give me some credit dude.

:)

:)

Yes I can move it all the way back with the switch.

It moves back a couple of inches & stops when it activates.

I wonder if there is a circuit board that I can "reset" or if it's a sensor in the (forward/back) motor that is false reading that the seat is at max back.

Okay, you get 10 credit points for checking the options. :)

There is a recalibration for the memory seats, as well as the telescoping steering wheel. This is usually only necessary after replacing a memory seat module or adjuster components. I've seen the steering wheels get out of calibration for no reason but not the seats. However, this is something you may want to try. Follow it to the letter.

Memory Seat Calibration Procedure

The memory seat module uses position sensor inputs to establish soft stop locations for the adjuster motors several millimeters ahead of the physical limits of the adjuster assembly. After replacing a memory seat module or adjuster components, it may be necessary to reset the adjuster motor soft stop locations. When the repair procedure has been completed, operate the seat adjuster switch in every direction until the seat adjuster reaches its mechanical hard stop by repeatedly pressing and releasing the switch as necessary.

So that's it, repeatedly press/release the switch at the hard stop? OK I'll try it. Will post later.

Well the recalibration WORKED! Problem is it only worked one time, then the next time the seat cycled it stopped short again.

Now when I OPEN THE DOOR the seat moves forward, it's not supposed to do anything when I open the door. Something is wacky.

Anyone else?

How about this. First, make note of the fob you're carrying by noting the number on the back of it. Then, move the seat all the way back and down and program that setting to the memory seat location that corresponds to the fob number that you're carrying. When you use that fob to open the door, the seat retracts to that easy-entry location. You can then get in the car, start it and hit the other memory location which will move the seat to your driving setting that you have stored. Getting out is as simple as hitting the other memory location again.

Or, you can try reprogramming it again. It may hold.

If I get your drift, full back/down is the fob1 memory location & fob 2 is the preferred driver memory location & I can shut off the ez in/out?

Thinking outside the box, you sneaky guy. I like it, I would only like better if it just worked. I will play with it.

BTW I have access to a tech2 at my independent shop.

Is tech2 any use fixing this?

The Tech II can send the commands to the seat and tell if the command was successful. You are doing the same thing with the switches but it would be interesting to see what the scan tool reports. There are codes associated with the seats so that's another thing you should look for.

Yes, programming the memory locations as you described is exactly what I'm talking about. You have to make sure that you set the alarm every time you exit so that when you disarm, the seat goes all the way back. If not, it won't move until you press the desired memory location. It's a work around but it beats having to touch the buttons that are a lot closer to the ground. Anything to make life easier for us OLD people.
