Basic Physics tells us that the lower the mass, the lower the power requirement to move that mass. Also, when all other variables are unchanged, the lower the power requirement, the less fuel required to make the power.
Therefore, it is not a surprise that "lighter weight" is a component of nearly every request or prediction associated with the C7. Frequently, Carbon Fiber is mentioned. Lamborghini used a complete CF body/monocoque tub to help offset the weight added due to their all wheel drive. Yes, that is an exotic, but CF is making it's way towards "mainstream" faster than expected.
