My '94 stalled on me the other day. Running perfect, then it was like the coil wire came off. It rolls over fine, gauges all there, no red lights, fuel pump buzzing, just won't start. Flat bed arrives to take it home and if starts right back up. I drive it 2 miles.... same thing; it just dies. It's towed home, cools down (?) and it starts up again. I drove it around a couple of miles and it died (thankfully) outside the door of my garage. Pullled the coil & ignition mod. Took them to have them tested. Coil-bad, Ignition module-tested OK. Got a new coil and put everything back together. Fired right up. I drove it almost up to operating temp and it died again and ended up on a flatbed for the 2nd time. Now, it won't fire at all. Optispark was replaced last year.

Hi there, I would be looking at the fuel pressure. We have seen multiple c4 with connection problems at the fuel pump over time due to spread open terminals and the like. What was your fuel pressure?? Allthebest, c4c5 |

I'll check it out. Honestly, it does act as though there's no fuel.

I'm going to run and get a pressure tester...Cant' find mine. When I'm there, I'm going to get a fuel pump relay also just to say I changed it. Been everywhere on the net and can't exactly locate it though. I find one site that tried to walk you through locating/changing the relay, but it read as though my 8 year old wrote it and I don't want my kid working on my car if you know what I mean. I'm going to check the Haynes manual, but I'm not optomistic.

Initially, when I turned the key forward, there was nothing on the guage. I turned the key back and did it again. The needle went to 40 psi. It started for a moment, the guage dipped to around 30 and the engine died. What is the correct fuel pressure for this engine (1994 Lt-1) without the engine running? I was told to look for around 53-56 psi. If that's the case, I don't have nearly enough pressure to even start the car. Right?

HI there, 41-47 psi is the correct amount of pressure to have. c5 went to 55-61 psi and does NOT apply to your vehicle. You have a fuel pressure issue and should start by checking your fuel filter for restriction, then the connections at the fuel tank. Allthebest, c4c5 |
