Any siggestions as to why my coolant leaks out of the system when the car is not even running - just parked in the driveway? Last time I fired up the Vette, the warning light said "low coolant". So I checked it and added about 2 quarts 60% DexCool to fill up the top reservoir and the overflow tank to the mid line. Did not drive the car. About 1 week later, while parked in driveway out in the SUN, all the coolant I added was dispersed onto my concrete driveway. I can't see any visible leakage from the top or bottom hoses - but they are about 15 years old. Could an engine freeze plug have developed a corrosion hole? Could the water pump be leaking coolant even if the pump is not rotating / ie - engine on? I think I will fill up again with plain water and see if I can see where leak is. Your thoughts?

Follow the leak to it's highest point, that much coolant loss should be very apparent. Yes, your water can leak without running the engine, look very closely at the water pump weep hole. Good luck with it. | |||||||||||||||||||||
