CM '94 Convertible-Fixed Optispark, Now..how to make fast?

Optispark went out on my '94 Convert. Replaced with MSD Pro-Billit along with plugs, wires, waterpump & belt. Questions....
1. Should I put an MSD coil on to compliment new distributer?
2. Is an MSD 7-AL a good investment for me? Would I need or notice it?
3. I did the Cat-Back exhaust, SLP cold air kit....what can be done to make these cars fast??????
4. I don't drive it 160. What about gearing it for more light to light?
I would love anyone's input on this issue. I sold a Mustang that was quick as hell for this car. I love it, but it's just not got that pull out of the hole.

You don't need the 7-AL, you won't notice it at all
Do you have a manual or an Auto
An Auto will limit you because of the rear end. Its a lighter duty unit and the gear ratio changes available are limited.
IIRC for the dana 36 (auto rear) you can go to 3.09
The gear ratio from the factory was designed for MPG, not blistering accelleration.

Now what is your budget?
hundreds
thousands
lots of thousands

From other Corvette message boards you can piece together what works and doesn't. Do not buy the "Airfoil, thermostat, hypertech chip" performance setup - you will be dissapointed.

For an automatic...

If you start adjusing transmission shift points and line pressures, you will have fun with it for awhile, but at some point you'll be rebuilding the trans. At that point, you can put in the best internals for the money to handle the new demands. Same for if you manually shift an anutomatic transmission, it won't last forever liek that.

For either auto or manual trans car, I would get the rear end rebuild so you get that neck snap feeling and torque you want from streetlight to streetlight. Once rebuilt, I doubt you'll have to do it again!

Now go play with your tools!

1998 6-speed Coupe. Z06 exhaust, Z06 sway bars, C6 Z06 Shifter, LS6 Intake Manifold, K&N FIPK, Vararam Velocity Stack, stainless steel brake lines, Borla X pipe, Z06 shocks. SAE Dyno Numbers 330 RWHP/340 RWTQ
