CM missing something

I decided tonight that while I have been doing odds and ends on my '98 coupe that it was time to check the air filter. The filter was fine but now I can't get the plastic clamps that pull the spring metal band over the top of the air box to lock down. They keep popping open. I had this problem when I first bought the car but I replaced the stock air box with a C5 Zo6 air box and I've never had a problem again until tonight. Now as I've said , I've had the whole assembly apart but that was 8 years ago and I'm not as bendy as I was then. I have forgotten something! Any thoughts?

HI there,

They slip onto the airfilter assembly at the bottom.

You will have to remove the air filter in ordr to get to them and install them on the assembly. Then you will be able to latch them.

Allthebest, c4c5

It's not just you or your car, it happens to many people. Bad design.

Now go play with your tools!

If the bottom connection is correct, just put a piece of racer tape on the latch.

They all pop open more or less. Not one of gm's most stellar designs.
