CM 1999 TPMS Inaccurate

I have a small problem. I recently purchased a new set of forged wheels, tires and new tps's. Upon installation, I learned the sensors without any issues. Immediately a problem was noticed, as soon as I drove the car I got a high tire pressure warning on all four sensors. Double checking the tire pressures, i found 30 psi in the tires -using 2 seperate gauges- and 40 psi on the DIC for a +25% error. Talking with the seller, he stated no other sets he's sold have had this problem. I informed him my stock sensors read virtually perfectly. Ultimately he sent me his OTC scan tool to read the sensors in real time, unfortunately, after trying repeatedly, I could not get a read on any sensor. I'll try again tomorrow, but if unsuccessful, can the sensor's output to the DIC be overwritten by the dealer ? And if so, do I have to worry about losing my custom tune (not an option). Any advise would be appreciated.

HI there,

I would be checking the sensors vs the actual data in the RCDLR.

Remember, your tune has NOTHING to do with the TPMS

Also, the tires may create problems, but not usually.

Are these aftermaket sensors or GM replacements?

Just curious...

Thanks for the replies.
GM sensors, I've been told. RCDLR, I don't know what that is, could you please expand on that ?
Thanks.

For those interested, I finally got the OTC tool to read. All 4 sensors are sending erroneous data, ~25-30% high.

PS---My stock sensors read virtually perfect.

Make sure that you have the correct sensors for your vehicle. Later year C5's were different, you may have those in your new wheels. Good luck with it.

For those interested, the wheel manufacturer sent for my wheels. They installed 4 new sensors and the problem was rectified.

Anyone thinking they can hide from the Junkman is sadly mistaken. BTW, I joined here due to your praise of Paul.
