CM No start - battery dead, sat 2 days.

First time ever that my vette didn't run for me in nearly seven years! Drove home from work like normal, car sat in garage for two days and went to start it and the starter solenoid just clicks. Will check the battery itself tomorrow after charging and then check for parasitic draw. Are there common causes on the C5's for parasitic loads? Nothing aftermarket electrically in the car.

Umm. Yeah the battery IS 7 years old.... If it is the battery I just find it odd that it's performed perfect until just now..

Batteries do fail quickly & if you got 7 years I think you did better than average.

Most auto parts stores will load test it if you pull the batt out, but honestly, a 7 yr old battery, I would not even be screwing around with it.

charged battery and performed a load test, sure enough will not charge past 11.5v and get just over 100 cca out of it. Time for a battery. I still plan to run normal tests as a parasitic draw or faulty alternator dragging the battery to zero could have killed it as it is an old battery.

Covering all your bases and following thru is never a bad idea in car repairs. Glad it was just the battery.

Now go play with your tools!
