CM Steering-suspension pulling?

My 2000 coupe has almost too much road feel. I've had it for 7 years and about 60,000 dependable miles. The first time I was driving on a local highly traveled expressway, the car felt like it was pulling to the left, then the right. I pulled over to the breakdown lane, and dropped the speed way back from 60 mph. It felt like a wheel was falling off, or at the least, a steering component was very loose.

The car has continued to do this for years, and after several alignment checks. Other family vehicles go over this area of highway with no weird pulling feel. This 6 lane is a major commuter rd. to the city of Boston, so it is possible that backed up traffic soon after the road was re-paved may have distorted the road surface.

It only seems to do this at this location, and one other three lane secondary highway. Do other C-5 drivers ever feel this pulling sensation? All other roads feel fine.

Wide tires and rutted roads always result in an unpredictable road feel. I try to drive off to one side or the other to keep the tires out of the ruts.

Like Bruce said, these wide tires and rims sizes will find the ruts in the road, usually older roads and literially pull the car into them. In doing so, the steering wheel can be pulled out of your hands. I'm also wondering if this is what you are feeling. If so its normal, mine does it too, depending on the road.

Now go play with your tools!
