CM Fob Transmitter

Just purchased a C6. Is it possible to carry a spare fob transmitter in the trunk? In the event that the keys were lost, a spare trunk key could be carried in a wallet to get to the spare fob. If the fob is stored without the battery the program is lost.
How can the transmisson from the fob be insulated? Thanks

HI there,

This depends on the year of C6, newer ones have the key stored within it.

But storing it in the trunk is not an option, it will allow anone to access it.

Allthebest, c4c5

I store mine in the passengers side compartment in my trunk. Wrap it a few times in aluminum foil and you will have no problem. Try it and see. It works.

In my 2006 Z06, I can place the FOB in the trunk area and the car will not see it. I'd be locked out (unless I had my personal preferences set to open the door all the time, which I do.)

Go to the locksmith and have a key made that opens the trunk. Place it on your house key ring. Done.

Scenario, you leave your FOB in your coat pocket and close the rear glass lid and you're locked out. But, you've got your trusty "emergency" key in your pocket! Break that puppy out and get into your car!

I tried duct taping a key to the underside of the car. It lasted about 2 weeks. I think I lost it somewhere on HWY 74 near Idyllwild!

I have been getting acquainted with my 07 C6 for two week now and i can't tell you how many times i tried to put the key in her.For people who are use to carrying keys with them it's hard to get use to, the last few days i just been putting them in my pocket, get in and go. i hope someday we could get a small chip you could put in your shoe or a nice corvette ring or necklace, Hey ya never know !!

I store my second FOB (05) in the trunk with the battery out. I keep a spare key in a magnetic box hidden on the underside of the car.

Excuse a noob question, as I do not own a Vette with the keyless ignition.

Is it that easy to lock your keys in? There is no "prgramming" to sense that the key is in the car "do not enable lock"?

My wife's 07 328i Coupe has a keyless system and it will NOT enable LOCK if the system senses that the key is in the car and car is not running. I think if you want to sit in the car & lock it there is an override, but I never figured it out.

So the GM system just lets you lock the key in with no warning?

Magnetics don't work with a Z06... (come to think of it, neither does duct tape!)

Oh yes, the horn will honk 3 times, but your still locked out! (Again, unless you have your "personal preferences" set to "passive unlock."

Use Velcro on the aluminum! Either directly on the key or on the top of the magnetic box.
