Sometime after the car sits for a couple of days I have clicking sound from the valves on start up. It only last for a couple of seconds, but I still cringe whenever I hear it. It doesn't happen all of the time, but enough to ask about. I have about 47000 miles and I change the oil and filter every 5,000 with 5w 30 Mobil 1. Would a different weight oil help or a different brand?

HI there, Its possible to change to a 10w30 but I would be more looking at how long is the vehicle sitting between starts. Does the noise correlate to how long the vehicle is sitting??? For example, if it sits for 2 days and it doesnt happen, vs sitting for a week and it occurs ????? BTW, what kind of oil filter are you using ????? Allthebest, c4c5 |

Thanks for the response. Sometime I can hear it after sitting for over nite, however it's not any worse if it sits for a week. Right now I have a Fram filter on .

Hi there, I would change the filter to an ACDelco PF 46 or PF48, depending on engine and then reevaluate the condition. You may have oil flow back creating the condition. Allthebest, c4c5 |

Thanks Paul, after you asked what brand of oil filter I started to wonder if that could be the problem. Thanks again and I hope to meet you at Carlisle.

Paul, just to let you know, I installed the AC oil filter before I went to Carlisle and have not had the clatter since. Thanks again. I bet I will never buy Fram again.
