I just had the ECM rebuilt in my '81 4 speed. The OBD plug is under the ashtray on the consol, but the plug does not match my meter plug and I can't find any adapter plugs. I know you can jump it for codes, but I would like to use my meter, it's easier than counting blips. Does anyone know of an adapter or can I wire in a newer plug? My plug has 5 pins in one row, the meter and all newer cars have two rows with 4 pins on top and one on the bottom row. I could get a plug from the junk yard, but I need to know how to wire it (if this would work).

HI there, GM did issue an adapter to use with the Tech1A. You can certainly get a plug and swap the terminals, as I have done that before on a few 1981. I can get you the wiring pin locations if you can obtain it. Allthebest, c4c5 |

I sure could use your help on the pin locations. I think one of my problems is the cats are removed and it has '69 sidepipes. The oxygen sensor is still in there.
